German Imperial Navy Officer’s Sword by E&F Horster-This example measures 37” in length and is a fine representative example of an Imperial German sword. The brass “D” guard with folding clam shell is in excellent condition with the lion’s head motif but no glass eyes. The white celluloid grip has several cracks, but no material is missing. It does have the triple brass wire grip wrap. The reverse of the folding guard is unit marked “O 3165”. The O represents a unit that was stationed in the Ostsee which is the Baltic Sea. The black leather scabbard is in very nice condition with some of the usual scuffs and the three brass fittings are in very nice condition and are somewhat detailed. The folding guard does lock into place, and a red felt buffer is mostly intact under the crossguard. This has an excellent non engraved blade. This is a real looker.
