German WWII Army Trumpet Banner-This is an Infantry banner for a trumpeter of the Infantry 110th Regiment. This is a beauty, and a very desirable offering as it measures approximately 15 ½ inches wide x 19 inches long and is perfect for displaying. If my research is correct this infantry division was formed after Operation Barbarossa, and fought on the Eastern Front, and was later destroyed by Soviet forces in 1944. The division itself consisted of three infantry regiments and an artillery regiment, and had nine Knights Cross recipients. This historical flag is quite handsome, as the obverse has a heavily embroidered black army eagle holding a swastika. The reverse identifies the unit as infantry regiment “JR” “110” in a heavily embroidered white, stylized script. The white thread on this embroidery is age toned but gives it a nice vintage look. This banner is bordered on both sides is a silver tress which is in good condition, with stylized squares on each corner. There are some small holes at the hoist end. There are a number of small moth nips to the green wool field on both the obverse and the reverse so please examine the photos.  The silver bullion fringe which measures just under 2 inches, on three sides is 99% intact. A beautiful display piece in sound, very good condition. The cloth tying loops are missing on the top of this flag.
