WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1935 FACTORY ORIGINAL Single Decal Helmet-This is a scarce helmet to encounter, from when Quist was transitioning from double decal parade style helmets to single decal combat helmets. It is in excellent condition, with a majority of the original, field grey, rough texture combat finish intact. The left side has a lightly toned Luftwaffe decal that is 95% intact. There is no evidence of there ever being a tri color shield. The interior features a brown leather size 57 liner that has moderate wear and scuffing. There is a zinc liner band that is dated 1940, maker marked and size stamped. The side of the interior is stamped Q 64 indicating production by Quist in the size of 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 1234 (cool!) indicating initial production some time in 1940. Referencing the excellent works by Brian Ice, there were a number of helmets in this lot range that were M35’s with a single decal applied. There is a brown leather chinstrap as well which has been repaired. This is a scarce helmet!
