German WWI Iron Cross 1st Class-This is a beautiful vaulted example of a 1914 1st class Iron cross. The original black finish on the iron core remains mostly intact with some slight scuffing. The silver frame is very nicely toned and is still a nice silver tone that complements this badge nicely. This medal is very nicely vaulted! It is marked on the reverse with 800 for silver content. The pin setup functions perfectly. This would have been a private purchase back in the day. A good example overall!

History: The German "Iron Cross of 1914" was a military decoration awarded to soldiers during World War I, originally established by King Frederick William III of Prussia in 1813 as a recognition for bravery in battle.
