German WWII Gau Honor Badge for Women-This badge is handsome. It is made of zinc and retains the majority of its silver finish. A party eagle sits in the center of a nicely detailed wreath, below the eagle are the words “Gau Baden”. Female members of Party organizations also received Gau Honor Badges to recognize specific achievements or long-term loyalty. A Gau was one of the Nazi Party's administrative districts, and the local Gauleiter determined the requirements for award. This one is nicely marked on the reverse. The pin setup on the reverse is unusual. It is a pin with a small locking mechanism. It works as it should. This is a very rare decoration in very fine condition.
