German WWII RARE Dusseldorf-Schlageter, Hitler Youth Tinnie-Albert Leo Schlageter was a German military officer who joined a right-wing Freikorps group after World War I and became famous for acts of post-war sabotage against French occupational forces. Schlageter was arrested for sabotaging a section of railroad track and executed by the French military. The manner of his death fostered an aura of martyrdom around him, which was cultivated by German nationalist groups, in particular the Nazi Party. In Nazi Germany, he was commemorated as a national hero. The rally that was held in his name in May of 1933 offered a few different types of tinnie, this is one of them. This is made of zinc that is coated in bronze. It is nicely toned. Please be aware the very top of the eagle’s head has been damaged, so be sure to look closely at the photos. This is nicely marker marked on the reverse for Paulmann & Crone, Lüdenscheid. The vertical pin is original and works as intended. This is a rare badge that will be a centerpiece tinnie collection.
