German Imperia Prussian Infantry Spike Helmet-This helmet is in “as found” condition and would make a good starter piece. It is covered in black leather that shows some cracking and crazing. This is most likely caused by the leather shrinking from age and storage. It has a stamped steel front plate of the crowned Prussian eagle with the words Koenig, and the initials “FR” on the center of the chest. This has lost all of its original finish, but still has great detailing. The spike, spike base plate, spine trim and front visor trim are all steel as well. They have lost their original finish and there is a light coat of rust especially to the spike. The chinstrap and side cockades are missing on this example. The leather lining remains somewhat in place, though it is damaged from age. Again, this is an as found example and would make a good starter piece. This is a small helmet, we believe it to be a size 54. In all actuality this would make a good display piece until you can upgrade.
