WWII German Army Artillery “Other Ranks” Visor Cap-This example is produced in tricot woven, field gray wool. It is clean but there are several small moth holes on the underside of the cap. The wool shows some slight fading. The red artillery piping is intact and is still vibrant in color. The center band is dark green badge cloth in very good condition. The insignia consists of a shiny aluminum eagle and wreath. They retain the majority of the original silver finish. The aluminum cockade with red felt bulls eye is also very good. The chinstrap is black patent leather and fully intact. The visor is black vulkanfibre and looks good. The underside is crosshatched and finished in light tan hue. The interior is fully lined in the same golden tan rayon cloth. This lining shows minor wear and discoloration from use. The moisture shield is rhomboid shaped and fully intact. The sweatband is brown ersatz leather. It shows slight discoloration but overall is in good condition and shows no physical damage. This cap was made by Clemens Wagner and has the “Erstklassig” eagle logo. This appears to be a size 58 though it is not marked as such. Overall, a very good example!
