German WWII Early SA Dagger by August Bickel-This is a handsome piece with early manufacturing characteristics. The nicely toned wooden handle is in very good condition. The nickel eagle and runic button are in excellent condition. The nickel fittings have toned to a nice matte silver. The crossguard is marked with for the Gruppe “Bo”, for Bayerische Ostmark. The fittings on the scabbard are very nice with the ball tip being slightly flattened. The anodizing on the scabbard is 80% in place and has slight finish loss on both obverse and reverse. Please see photos. The blade is very good and has the typical in and out runner marks. The motto on the obverse is deeply etched. The August Bickel logo can be seen on the reverse. This example comes with a brown leather vertical hanger. The nickel silver snap clip is marked with RZM M5/8 for the maker Assmann. Overall, it is a very good, early example.
