German WWII May Day Tinnie- May Day is a huge celebration in many countries in Europe, and Germany is no exception. May Day was a day for rallies and celebrations. This tinnie was issued by the NSDAP to celebrate "Tag der Arbeit" (National Labor Day / May Day) on May 1, 1938. These were widely distributed across Germany to members of the working class and the general public during state-mandated rallies and festivities. The obverse features a child standing on top of a national eagle while holding an oak branch. It features the text "1. MAI 1937". This tinnie has darkened from age and storage, it has lost all of its original silver finish. The reverse is marked for the maker Robinson. The vertical pin is in place, and functions perfectly.
