German WWII Signed Photo and Letter from Knight’s Cross Winner Pilot Günther Bierbrauer-This is a nice photo of a smiling young pilot. Included with this signed photo is a signed letter from Herr Bierbrauer to the woman requesting the photo. The envelope is also included and covered in colorful stamps, which is a nice addition. This photo measures 5 inches (12.7cm) tall by 3 inches (7.62cm) wide. Bierbrauer was awarded the knights cross for distinguishing himself over the course of 430 bomber sorties. He particularly excelled as a train-busting pilot during the latter part of his career. In this capacity he destroyed or badly damaged 49 transport trains with more than 2000 railway cars over the course of 171 sorties. Almost all of these were flown at night and at very low altitudes. Particularly noteworthy were his attacks against the railway stations at Proletardkik (06.09.1943), Fastov (beginning of 1944) and Krasny (05.08.1944). A very interesting Luftwaffe pilot.
