German WWII Signed Photo of Knight’s Cross Winner Hermann Eggers-Eggers served with the Luftwaffe 64th Flak Regiment with the rank of Hauptmann. The following excerpt from the Deutsche Nachrichtenbüro (dated 31.08.1942) describes why Eggers would be awarded the Knight’s Cross.

“His inspiring personal bravery and skillful leadership ensured that his Batterie also achieved great successes during the war against the Soviet Union. While serving with a Vorausabteilung on the Kertsch peninsula the Batterie decisively contributed to the smashing of the Bolshevik counterattack on May 9th 1942. In doing so it heavily facilitated the further battles of the Vorausabteilung and opened the way to Kertsch itself. This great success is in no small part thanks to the unconditional devotion to duty and exemplary decisiveness of the Batterie commander, who was heavily wounded for the second time in this war during the breakthrough of the Parpatsch position.” This photo is in very good condition. The photo measures 5 inches (12.7cm) tall by 3 ½ inches (8.89cm) wide and has the signature below. The original envelope is included as well. Overall, in good condition, and definitely someone who would be fun to research. Eggers stayed with the Bundheswehr after the war.
