WWI Era Celluloid Button or Plaque-These plaques were very popular in the early 1900’s, and a great way to display your photos. This 9 inch (22.86cm) celluloid button manufactured by the Cruver Mfg. Co of Chicago. It has a date near the maker’s name, of 1909. The center image depicts a photo of a young US soldier in uniform with his weapon. The frame is adorned with a US Patriotic motif, an eagle, flags, along with drums and artillery at the bottom. There is a banner that reads U.S. Artillery.  The graphic on this example is still bright and in excellent condition. It has yellowed some from age, but this only ads to the vintage look of it. There is a stand incorporated into the stamped steel backing, so you can set this up on a shelf. Someone has also punched a hole through the steel on the reverse, so you can probably attach it to a nail if you wish. This is an interesting collectible and not something we see every day.
