RARE WWII German Model 1940 SS Double Decal Helmet with Reverse Decals-Documented in the Beaver/Hicks book SS Helmets on page 181. This was part of a huge collection in Canada. This is a reissue from a police helmet as evidenced by the police decal visible underneath the SS decal where it has flaked off. This was either for an SD member of a foreign volunteer. The original field grey finish remains 70% intact. The left side has the Pocher SS runic decal which remains 75% intact and as mentioned, has the police decal visible underneath. The right side has a party shield which checks in at 80% intact. Inside, there is a size stamped 56 brown leather liner. It has minor wear, minor discoloration and minor scuffing from use. There is a drawstring and a zinc liner band that is maker marked, dated 1940 and size stamped 64/56. The side of the interior is stamped Q 64 indicating production by Quist in the size 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number DN 195. The brown leather chinstrap has shrunk a bit but is otherwise complete. A fantastic item!
