German WWII Postcard of Erwin von Witzelben-von Witzelben was a German Field Marshall during the war. He was a leading conspirator in the July 20th plot to assassinate Hitler. Had the plot succeeded he was designated to become the commander and chief of the Wehrmacht. He was executed on August 8th, 1944 after the plot failed. This is a colored sketch by artist Wolfgang Willrich, and was part of the “Heroes of the Western Front” series. The colors are bright and this is very clean. There is a corner fold, so please be sure to look closely at the photos. The reverse of the postcard is setup in the traditional style with room for a note and the address, with the studio information separating the two halves. This is standard postcard size, measuring just over 4 inches (10.16cm) wide by 6 inches (15.24cm) tall. This would look great in a small frame.
