WWII German Army Mountain Trooper Officer Early Tunic and Trousers-The tunic is an early example produced in field grey wool that is of a good quality. There is very minor wear, a few spots of discoloration/staining and a few moth nips. This is all very minor. There are four pockets with scalloped flaps. The breast pockets are pleated and the hip pockets are internal. There is an eight button closure and all buttons are field grey finished pebbled metal. I believe these buttons are collector reapplied. The collar is dark green badge cloth and in fine condition. There are officer style, originally applied collar tabs machine embroidered in silvery grey cloth over dark green badge cloth, each having dark green litzen. The sew in shoulder boards are also originally applied and have a matte grey flat wire face with two gold pips each over a green underlay. This is for a hauptmann or captain. There is a machine woven mountain trooper edelweiss patch on the right sleeve. The breast eagle is silver bullion with bright silver flat wire highlights over dark green cotton. It is hand applied and original to the tunic. The tunic is fully lined in grey cotton. There is minor wear and discoloration only. There are no internal pockets. It is a size medium. The trousers are grey linen. There is minor wear and discoloration with a few minor repairs as well. These are straight legged trousers with ties at the ankles. There are slash type hip pockets, a pair of rear pockets with scalloped flaps and a watch pocket. There is a four button fly with a buttoned strap at the waist. There are cinch straps at each hip. The waist is a size 36 and these are 41” in length. A very good set!
