Japanese WWII Type 30 Bayonet-Japanese WWII Type 30 Bayonet by Kokura Army Arsenal- It is an excellent example of a Type 30 bayonet. The type 30 bayonet went through many variations as the war raged on and resources became very limited. You can tell this is an early war production since it has the hooked quillon on the crossguard, and steel birds head pommel. This bayonet also has a serial number stamped onto the top of the pommel (99285). Both of these have the majority of their original finish and have toned to a nice brown steel color.  The grip plates are wood, held on with two rivets. This example has no washers. The wooden handle grips are beautifully toned. The wood is a nice dark brown color and a bit worn from years of use. Really quite beautiful. The mortise button works as intended. Another early characteristic of an early production is the steel scabbard. This one has the majority of its finish with a speckling of light rust. The steel has toned to the same color as the upper fittings. The blade is nicely blued, and very well marked under the crossguard with the three-sided cloverleaf mark for the Kokura Army Arsenal. Overall, this bayonet is near excellent!
