“Adolf Hitler Bilder aus dem Leben des Führers” (“Adolf Hitler, Pictures of the Life of the Führer”)-The book is copyright 1936 and is in German text. This is a “cigarette” style book which has many, many photos, all black and white. There are both large and small photos and all are present. There are a total of 134 pages. This book has a spine that is just slightly loose and splitting but still holding together. There are a few pieces of tape keeping back the worst of the spine damage. There is some shelf scuffing to the hardcover, but overall, this is clean and in good condition. This is a very interesting propaganda book from the National Socialist era, designed as a picture collection album. With gold embossing on the cover, the book is in very good condition.
History: These cigarette scrapbooks were popular in Germany from the 1930s to the end of the party movement in the 1940s. They are the product of a collaborative project of the NSDAP and the Cigarette Picture Service in Hamburg and would typically come as a blank picture album. When a customer bought a certain brand of cigarettes, a coupon would be issued that the buyer could send to the company and get a pack of pictures that could be glued into the book. After filling the book, the family would have a complete pictorial history of NSDAP’s struggle to power.
