Allgemeine SS NCO Tunic for Foot Regiment-This fantastic tunic is one that I owned 40 years ago! It is for a scharführer (sergeant) of the 5th Sturm, 38th Standarte (foot regiment) which was located in Graz. When I previously owned it, the armband was a bit loose so I had it professionally reapplied. The tunic is produced in black wool that is excellent. There are four pockets with scalloped flaps. The breast pockets are pleated while the hip pockets are internal. There is a four button closure and all buttons are silver finished pebbled metal. The collar tabs are black wool. The right size has the number 38 rendered in silver flat wire. The left side has a single rank pip. Each tab is piped in a black cotton/silver flat wire twist cord. The same piping is seen at the front and lower edges of the collar. There is a single sew in shoulder board. This is black cotton with silver flat wire in a braid. There is an “old fighters” chevron on the right sleeve. There are loops for two awards on the left breast pocket. The left sleeve has the aforementioned wool SS armband as well as a cuff title with the number “5’ rendered in silvery grey cloth. The upper and lower edges of the cuff title are piped in a silver flat wire. There are two belt hooks on the back, one is broken. The buttons are SS RZM marked. The interior is fully lined in black cotton. There is a large pocket on the left side plus a smaller pocket at each lower corners of the interior. The large pocket has an SS RZM tag inside. The maker is 123. The outside of the pocket also has a smaller cloth SS RZM tag with the date 1938. There is a large “VA 1938” ink stamp on the liner. This is a size medium. A great piece!
