 American Officer's Sword with Knights Head Handle-We believe this sword would have been used post American Revolution during 1840, or just before the US Civil War began. This sword is gorgeous and could have easily been in use during the war of 1812. How appropriate that we have this sword for sale during America’s 250th birthday. This is covered in patriotic motifs. This beautiful sword has a highly detailed knight head pommel, a square hand guard, and highly decorated bronze crossguard. On the brass languet you can see an gladiator with sword on one side, and large fan or palm leaf design. There is a beautiful white celluloid grip that is carved in a ribbed pattern This handle free from any major cracking or crazing. The pommel and guard are loose, and the pin that holds them together separates easily.  The brass scabbard is free of dents and is embellished with an American eagle and motto. This scabbard has a handsome tone and is in very good condition. This has a period that is double engraved. This style of blade was not domestically made, this is a design that was made in Solingen Germany, by Weyersberg. This sword measures 38 inches (96.52cm) long with a blade that is 30 inches (76.2cm) long. A historic blade in very good shape considering its age.
