German Imperial Fireman’s Axe-Even though this axe is early and from the Imperial period, there is a distinct possibility it was carried during World War II. The steel axe head is perfect, and still very shiny. The steel fittings look great, and are still shiny silver, as is the steel tip on the end of the handle. The nicely toned wood handle has shrunk slightly from age, so the axe head feels slightly loose. This axe is beautiful with its desirable wooden handle and silver fittings. It’s a looker. Someone has carved a swastika in the throat of the handle; this is a nice personal touch. This axe would look great in anyone’s collection.
