German Imperial Presentation Bayonet-this is a long model bayonet by WKC that is unique in many aspects. It is a one of a kind presentation piece awarded to the champion shooter of an Imperial motorized battalion. The photos are what you will need to understand the prominence of this particular piece. The hilt fittings are heavily engraved with an oak leaf motif. The plating on the hilt fittings remains approx. 60% in place but does not detract from the overall appearance. There is a unique button slot setup to attach the bayonet, the likes of which I have never encountered before. The bakelite checkered grip plates are perfect. There is a nickel silver addition to the obverse grip plate which represents the exact unit that this bayonet comes from. This was meant to be a special piece as the scabbard is a beautifully anodized version with 80% of the original anodizing in place. And now the blade… this is a sight to behold, with the reverse of the blade being fully engraved with the center motif being a shooting target with crossed rifles. The obverse of the blade is also fully engraved and translates loosely to the following “The best Shot from the 2nd Co. 2nd Prussian Motorized Battalion”. The condition of the blade rates near excellent with just slight spots. Best imperial presentation bayonet I have ever had the privilege of handling.
