German Wehrmacht Signalman's Pony Fur Backpack-This is the type that was used by signals units in the field and is getting difficult to encounter. It features a rigid body, with a large inner compartment that has cloth sides. The body is field gray cloth which shows some wear and discoloration from use. A majority of the body is lined in brown pony fur which does have some small sections missing. There are a few small tears to the inside cloth part of the body, and some age discoloration. All of the straps are present, including the two upper back hooks/straps. There is a leather cut out number “3” on the outer part of the pack. This example is ordnance marked “hjg” and dated 1943. There is also a Waffenamt stamped next to the date. A desirable example.
