German WWII 10x80 Flak Binoculars-This is a set of flak D.F. 10 x 80 binoculars. These were used for anti-aircraft or anti-tank warfare. The optics on these are a bit spotty but good. There is a removable leather comfort eye rest. The body is a black paint, the finish is 75% intact. The knobs are made of a brown bakelite and still function. The left dial is labeled klar (clear), hell (light), mittel (medium), and dunkel (dark). The right side of the binocular body is marked: D.F. 10x80, cro 2442. D.F. Is the abbreviation for Doppelfernrohr (double telescope), with 10 x 80 indicating the magnification power of the optics. The German wartime three letter code cro stands for R. Fuess Optische Industrie in Berlin, known for their excellent optics and rarity. It is interesting that the faded red colored X indicates the type of lubricant used on this set. ***Extra shipping may be required for this example, as it weighs 14lbs. This is in very good condition, though it may need a good cleaning if you are going bird watching.
