German WWII 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class-This medal has broken off from its ring, so please be aware that this does have damage. This medal was reinstituted on the 19th of July in 1870 by King Wilhelm I. They were issued between the summer of 1870 through 1871. This is a very good example with an iron core that has the majority of its black finish intact on both the front and back. The silver frame has a very nice tone to it. There are great details to the raised crown, W and the date 1870. The reverse shows the crown, below this sits the initials FW, oakleaves and the date of 1813. There is a short portion of original ribbon that does show some age toning. Unfortunately, the ring has broken off. This would still make a very good display example.
