German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe Officer Dagger by Spitzer-This dagger has beautiful airplane gray fittings on the pommel and crossguard. The details and tone on both are excellent. The crossguard is loose to the handle, this could be caused from shrinkage to the celluloid. The white celluloid handle has moderate breaks please see photos very carefully. This is a fine example even with this liability, which I will describe in detail. The white celluloid grip has a moderate break at approx. 1 inch (2.54cm) below the pommel. This break goes all the way through the handle; it is not a crack it is a clean break. The wire grip is still in place but the crack will affect the wire wrap if you are not very careful. This will make a good display piece, but it is quite fragile. The scabbard has darkened to a darker gray than the fittings, but the two fittings on the scabbard are the same airplane gray that matches the fittings on the dagger. It gives this piece a cool look to it. The blade is very good. The Spitzer logo is prominent on the reverse of the blade. This is a blade with issues, but you can make it work as a nice display piece. Priced to sell.
