German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger-This is a beauty. This gorgeous 2nd model Luftwaffe dagger has a light orange celluloid handle that has toned to a nice warm pumpkin orange. You can see the original color of the handle on the reverse, where this part of the handle was protected during storage and display. The handle is free of cracks or crazing. The silver grip wire is in place and looks terrific. It hasn’t toned; the wire is still quite shiny. The airplane gray finish on the pommel and crossguard is nicely detailed and has toned to a nice dark gunmetal gray color. The pommel and crossguard show light wear only and have excellent details. A slight hint of the gold gilt remains on the front portion of the pommel swastikas. The leather buffer remains in place under the crossguard. The scabbard is also excellent. The scabbard itself has darkened some, as have the fittings, with a gray tone that matches the grip fittings. This gives the dagger a great look. The scabbard shows no denting. The blade is very good, with very obvious factory cross graining. You can also see the usual in and out runner marks. This dagger is beautiful and worth a second look.
