German WWII Army Chevron for Gefreiter with 6 Years Experience-This is for the rank of Gefreiter with more than 6 years of experience. Interesting note: Originally the tresse utilized on the chevrons was in bright silver/aluminum wire threads until regulations of September 1ST 1942 discontinued production of the highly visible tresse and introduced a less visible subdued blue/grey rayon tresse. Further regulations dictated that the bright tresse be replaced by the subdued tresse by October 1ST 1942 although the changeover was never fully achieved. This sleeve chevron is produced in green badge cloth with a machine embroidered silvery grey pip in the center. There is a single NCO tresse "V". The backing is gray badge cloth. Near excellent.
