German WWII Army Officer’s Dagger by Klaas-The white celluloid handle is in very good condition. The handle is free of any crazing or cracking. Be aware that the celluloid has shrunk over time from age and storage, so it is a slightly loose fit. This is not uncommon. The details and finish to the pommel cap and eagle crossguard have toned to a nice matte gun metal gray color. The silver highlights remain in place. The crossguard itself is slightly loose as well. The strap fitting just above the crossguard has lost all of its original finish. The leather buffer remains in place under the crossguard. The scabbard is in very good condition. It retains some of its original silver in the lowest detail. The underlying steel shows through and has toned to a nice gray color that complements the upper dagger fittings. The scabbard fittings have beautiful details. The scabbard remains undented. The blade is in good shape. There is some lifting and small pitting to the upper third of the dagger, just under the crossguard. But the blade is in overall good condition. The Robert Klass logo can be seen just under the crossguard on the reverse on the blade. This dagger has some liabilities but will make a handsome display dagger. Priced to sell.
