German WWII Ausweis der Deutschen Volksliste-The Ausweis der Deutschen Volksliste is an ID booklet issued to individuals in occupied territories particularly Poland. The owner would be classified as ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche). These books were administered by the SS, and was used to enforce racial hierarchies, offering privileges but also demanding loyalty to the Reich. This book was owned by a 19 year old girl, named Helene Hartung from Rożdżały which is a small village in Poland. There is a great photo of her inside, complete with several national stamps. This card is made of heavy green cardstock which is slightly faded, but the text is still very readable, as are the stamps and the terrific photo. This is an interesting id card.
