German WWII Cased 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class by B.H. Mayer-This is a very good example. The black finish on the iron core is 90% intact. There is some slight lifting, and corrosion bubbles seen just under the paint, so please look closely at the photos. The silver frame is still nice and shiny, though there is some slight finish loss on the silver closest the cross. The reverse of the badge retains the majority of its silver. The pin setup functions as it should. The pin is marked 26, so the maker B.H Mayer of Pforzheim. This comes with a portion of original ribbon, that remains pinned to the underside of the lid of the case. The case is very good. The black pebbled leatherette case shows only slight wear. There is some slight fading to the black color, but minimal scuffing. There is some lifting to the case cover on the lower left front corner, but overall the case is very good. The case lock works as it should. The inside of the case is lined with off white flocking, velvet on the bottom and a silk like rayon under the top lid. A good example.
