German WWII Civilian Gas Mask-Often referred to as a "Luftschutz" (air defense) gas mask, its intended use was for civilians during air raid scenarios. This is the model VM 40 with the rubber face piece with the aluminum can, both of which are nicely marked. Both the mask and the can show a nice Waffenamt. This is in near excellent condition especially considering the age. The rubber is still soft and supple and has a nice olive green color. The lenses are darkly tinted from age and show some scuffing. The can is very clean. Overall, near excellent.
