German WWII Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht Armband-This is a narrow armband, just under 3" wide. It is produced in red cloth with the printed script “Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht”. On either side of the script is a large Wehrmacht eagle. These were worn by members of the “National Militia” that was established in October 1944 as a last-ditch effort regarding the outcome of the war. It consisted of all able-bodied men from 16 to 60 years of age who were able to bear arms but were not already members of the Armed Forces. They were expected to furnish their own uniforms or wear civilian clothing, so in order to identify them, these armbands were issued. This armband is a good looking example. The colors are slightly faded, but overall it is in good condition.  This one is sewn together in the back. This is attached to a piece of white canvas like material. We are unsure if this was part of a display,  Interesting piece.
