German WWII Frankentag Hesselburg 1939 Eagle Tinnie-This zinc tinnie measures 50mm tall by 36mm wide. This grand eagle is in a sitting position, side-on view. At the base it sits astride a rectangular panel bearing the inscription FRANKENTAG HESSELBERG 1939. The Franktentag [Franconia region day] was an annual festival organized by Julius Streicher. Streicher was the publisher of the antisemitic magazine Der Stuermer and Gauleiter of Franconia. Streicher's aim was to turn the Hesselberg mountain region into an important site. Streicher planned to build a mausoleum for himself at the location, and he printed various propaganda materials to promote the event. The last Frankentag occurred in 1939. This is nicely marked with RZM 9/12 for C. Balmberger Nürnberg on the reverse. This badge has a vertical pin that functions as intended. This tinnie is in good condition. It is also interesting, since this was the last tinnie made for this event.
