German WWII Hitler Youth Knife with Motto-Sound example that is maker marked with an M over a set of oakleaves. This is a very early example. The black checkered grip plates along with the enameled HJ diamond are undamaged and in fine condition. The nickel plated hilt retains 80% of the finish. The “Blut und Ehre!” motto on the blade is clearly visible. The blade, as usual, has a very slight sharpening on the edge most likely done by the original owner. The blade has some spotting but I'll rate it as very good overall. The reverse of the blade is maker marked as stated earlier and is also stamped SOLINGEN GES.GESCHUTZT which means patent protected which is an indicator of early production. The leather buffer under the crossguard is not present. The original scabbard paint is approximately 85% intact with nice age crazing. It retains the brown belt loop and retaining strap. Overall, this is a very good example of an early HJ knife with the desirable motto.
