German WWII Luftwaffe Air Gunner’s /Wireless Operator’s Badge by Berg & Nolte-This is a choice example of this desirable Luftwaffe badge. This is a textbook example of a mid war production. This still has the original lacquer in spectacular detail over the eagle and the wreath. This lacquer finish is especially obvious of the reverse of the badge and gives it a very handsome appearance. The manufacturer is B&N L and it is nicely marked on the reverse of the eagle. Unupgradable!

History: Air Gunner qualification badge was introduced by Hermann Göring on March 26th, 1936 as an award to radio operators, air gunners and mechanics who had met the required criteria. The Wireless Operator/Air Gunner badge was awarded on an individual basis and the main criteria for bestowal was the completion of five operational flights over enemy territory or a minimum of two months active service.
