German WWII Luftwaffe Dog Tag in Aluminum-We believe that this dog tag was Issued to an airman from the 2nd Kompanie Flieger-Ausbildungs Regiment 10, which was a training unit of the Luftwaffe. This unit was responsible for training personnel before they were moved on to specialized flight or technical schools. It has the number 2702 which is the soldiers id number. German soldiers usually kept the first id tag issued to them by their training unit, throughout their military career. This is very easy to read and is nicely stamped. This tab does show some wear, and spots of discoloration but overall, this is in good shape.
History: The German dog tags were made of plated steel, aluminum, or zinc, and were designed so that if a soldier died, the bottom half of the tag would be broken off, while the other half remained with their body. This is a full dog tag, which means this guy most likely survived the war. When we have only one half, and we have no way of knowing whether it simply broke at some point, or whether the soldier it was issued to was killed in action.
