German WWII Luftwaffe General’s Summer Visor Cap-This is a very scarce piece to encounter. It is a handsome and scarce cap. It has a removable white tricot woven cover that is excellent. The removable gold bullion Luftwaffe eagle is excellent and retains all of its gilt finish. The top panel is piped in white while the ribbed black center band is piped in gold mesh piping at the top and bottom edges. The one-piece wreath with cockade and wings is all bullion with bright gold flat wire highlights. The officer’s double chin cord is also gold twisted bullion with silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The black shows several scratches to the side, so please be sure to look closely at the photos. The underside is also black and in excellent condition. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. It is very clean. There is a fully intact rhomboid shaped moisture shield. The maker info is seen under the shield. There is a tan leather sweatband which is in fine condition aside from some minor discoloration. Someone has placed the initial “HF” on this sweatband. These initials are made of aluminum and held on with single prongs. We assume this was the owner’s initials. The cap is a size 57. An excellent example overall, and a very scarce find.
