German WWII Luftwaffe Officer’s Sword by Helbig- This sword measures 35 inches (91.44cm) long and is the attractive aluminum version. The overall exterior very good with a few liabilities. The blue Moroccan leather on the handle and the scabbard have several imperfections with scuffing on the handle and a substantial tear on the scabbard. The silver wire grip wrap on the blue Moroccan leather handle is in place and very good. The fittings are good with strong details and toning, especially to the crossguard. The gold gilding on the swastikas on both the pommel and the cross guard is intact and quite bold. Very pretty actually. The pommel is a bit loose and we have not attempted to tighten this. The blade with the Helbig trademark and the waffenamt is in good condition. This sword is complete with the blue leather hanger which has remained intact throughout the years. Don’t miss this one! Overall, this is a good example.
