German WWII Luftwaffe Officer’s Sword by SMF-This is a very early example. The pommel and crossguard are early nickel silver. The nickel silver finish remains 85% in place and has a nice tone to it. The gold gilt sunwheel in the pommel and crossguard nearly all of their original gold finish. The fittings are good with strong details and toning, especially the details on this beautiful crossguard. The blue Moroccan grip on the handle is salty. This does show moderate scuffing and lifting, so please be sure to look at the photos. The twisted silver grip wire is very good though; it has a dark tone that matches the fittings. The scabbard leather is in place, but there is a moderate scrape, where someone has tried to hold close with scotch tape. The nickel silver fittings are very good on the scabbard and are toned to a nice darker silver that complements the upper fittings of the sword. This scabbard is free from dents, including the ball tip. This sword measures 38 inches in total, with the blade measuring 30 inches. The blade is in mint condition. You can see the SMF Knights logo just below the crossguard on the reverse side of the blade. This early sword has some liabilities to the scabbard, but over it is in very good condition, and is priced to sell.
