German WWII Luftwaffe “Other Ranks” Visor Cap for Flak or Artillery-This is made of a high quality Luftwaffe gray wool. It is very nicely piped in red to indicate this would be worn by personnel in a flak or artillery unit. This has a black ribbed centerband. The wool and centerband show only light moth tracking but are overall in very good condition. The insignia is gorgeous. The brushed aluminum Luftwaffe eagle and cockade with wreath and wings are beautiful. They retain the majority of their finish. Please note that chinstrap is from an army visor cap and is not a Luftwaffe chinstrap. The vulkanfibre visor is in very good condition, showing only slight crazing. The underside is green and is crosshatched. There was a name label on the underside of the visor that remains in place. The black leather trim is damaged on the visor as well, so please see photos. This cap is lined in light brown oil cloth, with a light brown rayon side lining. The underside of the cap is marked for the maker Carl Halfar. The sweatband is in place. It shows moderate wear and discoloration from use. Under the delicate sweatband you can see the markings LBA 38. This cap is out of shape, so we will be sure to include a cap form for your display. This has some liabilities but is overall a handsome cap.
