German WWII Miniature HJ Knife for Opel Promotion-This is a very interesting collectible. This is an HJ Knife in miniature, it is fairly long at 9 inches or 22 cm long. This has nickel-silver hilt fittings which are 95% intact. The obverse black checkered grip plate along with the HJ enamel diamond grip insert are excellent. This blade measures 5 ½ inches long. The blade is near excellent. The scabbard retains 100% of its original black paint. This blade was a promotional item for the Opel Automotive Company. There are 4 lines engraved into the blade with the company name. During WW2, the Opel Blitz became the prime utility truck of the Wehrmacht, deployed in every front. Opel Blitz 1.5 ton pickup from 1932, one of the three body style available with the van and bus to the civilian market. We see these promotional knives every so often, and they were probably a giveaway to try to elicit business. A very cool idea, and a very cool seldom encountered knife.
