German WWII Model 33 SS Dagger by Ed. Wüsthof-This is a RZM vintage beauty. The nickel plated crossguard and pommel on this example retain the majority of their bright silver finish. The ebony wood handle is excellent, except for one small scuff below the aluminum eagle. The runic button is very good, showing only light wear and scuffing. The handle is a nice tight fit. The black scabbard is beautiful with some very light crazing on the paint with 95% of the paint intact. This crazing is very sight. The scabbard fittings retain all of their original plating and show hardly any wear at all. There is no denting and the scabbard tip is nice and round. The blade on this dagger is excellent. The motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” is deeply etched. You can see the usual in and out marks and some factory cross graining. The reverse of the blade is marked with the RZM code 1196/38 SS for Ed. Wüsthof. This example comes with a scarce 3-piece vertical hanger that is in fragile, but very good condition. The snap clip on the hanger is marked M5/8 which is the RZM code assigned to H. Assmann. The hanger has been on this dagger forever, and you can tell by the slight bit of wear caused by the clip, that you can see on the reverse of the wooden handle. Believe me, this bit of wear is not a liability! This is a classic SS dagger and a nice honest RZM example!
