German WWII Short Model Dress Bayonet with Stag Type Handle-This is the later war example in “as found” condition. The ersatz stag grips are made of wood that someone has painted black. The plating on the hilt and crossguard are also repainted. This repaint is approx. 45% in place and you can see the original gray toned metal beneath. The mortise button works just fine. The leather buffer is still in place beneath the crossguard. The scabbard retains 80% of its original black paint and actually looks pretty good. Please be aware that someone has painted portions of the blade, so please take a look at the photos to see what I mean. A previous owner has painted the fullers with black paint. Other than this, the blade is in pretty good shape. We are calling this dagger in “as found” condition.
