German WWII Short Model Dress Engraved Bayonet by E Pack & Söhne-The hilt and pommel fittings retain 95% of their original matte nickel silver finish. The mortise button functions as it should. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are excellent, as is the black leather buffer below the crossguard. The red felt buffer is still tightly in the bayonet slot as this would be issued to artillery or flak troops. The scabbard retains approx. 95% of its original black paint and is dent free. The blade is excellent. The deep engraving shows oak leaves to the left of the motto, with a large flak gun to the right of the scroll. The scroll shows the “In Memory of My Service Time” script. The reverse of the blade shows the E Pack & Söhne logo, just under the crossguard. The blade is excellent. This is complete with not only a black patent leather frog, but a correctly tied green and white bayonet knot. Both the frog and the knot are excellent. The very top of the acorn stem does show some fraying, but overall, this does not distract. This bayonet is beautiful and a top choice example.
