German WWII Signed Photo and Envelope of Knights Cross Winner Helmut Haugk-Helmut Haugk (24 February 1914 – 28 January 1992) was a Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. On 29 September 1939, while serving with the 26th Destroyer wing, Haugk was shot down and wounded when in his Messerschmitt Bf 109 D-1while battling with the RAF. German archives have found records for twelve aerial victory claims over the western allies. This photo postcard is signed by him. It includes the original envelope. There is no note. The postcard is a bit larger format than the usual, measuring 6 inches (15.24cm) tall and 4 inches (10.16cm) wide. It is in very good condition, though slightly faded.
