German WWII Signed Photo of Knights Cross Winner Hans Christian Hansen earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on February 11, 1945 as Hauptmann und Führer of the II. Bataillon/Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 3 “Hermann Göring”. This regiment was a German elite Luftwaffe armored division. They saw heavy action against the Soviet army in Prussia, Pomerania, Silesia, and Saxony.  The division began as a battalion-sized police unit in 1933. Over time it grew into a regiment, brigade, division, and finally was combined with the Parachute-Panzergrenadier Division 2 Hermann Göring on 1 May 1944 to form a Panzer corps under the name Reichsmarschall. It surrendered to the Soviet Army near Dresden on 8 May 1945. This black and white photos measures 5 ½ inches (13.97cm) tall and 3 ½ inches (8.89cm) wide. The signature is very clear, in blue ink at the bottom. This is in very good condition.
