German WWII Signed Photo of Knights Cross Winner Hans-Joachim Hunger-Hunger was a Second Lieutenant in the Schwere or heavy artillery (Artillerie-Abteilung 526 motorized) unit when he was awarded the knights cross in 1944. He was awarded this for holding a hill that contained an observation post. We will include the story from 2002’s Das Ritterkreuz which describes his heroic efforts to hold this hill along with only 10 men. This signed black and white photo is in very good condition. The back has a note written by Hunger. The photos measures 5 inches (12.7cm) tall by 3 ½ inches (8.89cm) wide. Again, this would be a fun research project.
