German WWII Stag Handle Rural Police Bayonet-This is a handsome example of the stag handle police bayonet. The shiny silver finish to the hilt and pommel remains intact. Please note that the police insignia is missing on this bayonet. There is some verdigris to the reverse of the crossguard. The details to the eagle head pommel are very strong and nicely toned. The brown leather scabbard identifies this as a rural police example. The scabbard is excellent and has all of the stitches intact. The brown leather is in very good shape, as are the scabbard fittings. The unit markings are seen on the reverse of the scabbard, L.AR.8. The three letters designate what district this bayonet was assigned to, and the number is the number of items issued out.  This means, that "L.ar.8" indicates this was the eighth weapon issued to the Landgendarmerie (rural police) of the Arnberg district. The blade is very good and shows the early squirrel Eickhorn logo can be seen under the crossguard.  This comes complete with a handsome brown leather frog that is maker marked and dated 1937. This is a nice police bayonet, but please remember that the police insignia is missing. Overall, a sound, interesting example.
