German WWII Subordinate Forestry Officials Cutlass by Eickhorn w/Frog-These are always a very cool find. Forestry and customs had some of the coolest daggers of the Third Reich in my opinion. This is a triple engraved example. The stag handle grip is very good with the three brass acorns affixed to the handle. The solid brass hilt, with stag hoof cross guard is also excellent. This has a large brass clamshell handguard. The brass is very clean with no verdigris. The green felt buffer is in place under the crossguard. The black leather scabbard is very good. It shows some slight scuffing from general use. The brass scabbard fittings are tightly in place, with good staples holding them onto the leather. The brass acorn at the top of the scabbard is also very good. The early Eickhorn triple engraved blade is very good. The obverse shows a hunting motif with hunters chasing a stag. The reverse shows another hunting motif, with dogs fighting a large boar. The backstrap is nicely engraved with a leaf motif. The early Eickhorn logo can be seen on the reverse just under the crossguard. Please see the photos of this blade, and focus on the tip of the blade, as it does show some scratching. The tip is not damaged, but there are moderate scratches that you should be aware of. This comes with a very scarce black leather frog that is in very good condition. This cutlass is priced to sell.
